NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THE FRACTURE IN SHEET METAL STAMPING BASED ON DUCTILE CRITERION

  • Based on Rice-Tracey ductile criterion, a method used to simulate the fracture occurring in the process of sheet metal stamping is explored. First, two types of tests are designed and the ductile criterion parameter for dual phase (DP) steel sheets is determined with the help of FEA results. Then, Rice-Tracey ductile criterion is programmed into the subroutine VUMAT embedded in Abaqus/Explicit. Finally, numerical simulation of the deep drawing for DP steel is conducted and the predicted fracture is compared with experimental results. It is shown that they are in good agreement in general. Thereby, the Rice-Tracey ductile criterion is suitable for predicting the fracture in sheet metal stamping.
