ELASTOPLASTIC DAMAGE MODEL OF SOIL-STRUCTURE INTERFACE IN SINGLE PILE-SOIL INTERACTION ANALYSIS

  • A new interface element for FEM analysis is presented based on elastoplastic damage model of soil-structure interface(i.e.,EPDI model) which is characterized by united description of the monotonic and cyclic behavior of the interface between structures and coarse grained soil. The interface element is used to predict the response of the soil-structure interface and confirmed to be effective by test results. The static and cyclic responses such as the friction resistance and the top displacement of a single pile are analyzed by FEM with various interface models and parameters. Results show that the stress-strain behavior of soil-structure interface has significant effect on the pile-soil interaction and should be well considered. The presented model could be effectively used for soil-structure interaction analysis with a reasonable description of the main static and dynamic characteristics of the soil-structure interface, such as volumetric stress-strain relationship, shear stress-strain relationship and their coupling.
