AN EFFICACIOUS COONS' SURFACE METHOD FOR FORMULATION OF CURRENT FINITE ELEMENT OF THICK AND THIN PLATES

  • In this paper, We apply the Coons' surface method, as well as the derivatively interrelated method for formulation of displacement field function and rotation field function. An efficacious and current finite element of thick and thin plates is constructed, and its displaci ment field shape function is directly given. This method is easily implemented, its geometric significance and mechanical conception are quite clear, moreover it has the general characteristic. When the thick plate turned into thin plate, the current finite elementis directly degenerated into the finite element of ACM and Ferguson surface element, and the shear locking phenomenon disappeared. The computational results indicates that the finite element is high-precision and its convergence is well. This method is spread in engineering structure.
