AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON SHORT-TERM STIFFNESS AND CRACK WIDTH OF STEEL REINFORCED CONCRETE FLEXURE MEMBERS

  • In this paper, the experimental study of eleven simply supported Steel Reinforced Concrete (SRC) beams are presented. The test results show that the hypothesis of plane section for average strains along the depth of section holds for SRC beams during the whole process of loading. Following this conclusion, the results obtained by the computerprogram are in good agreement with those from tests. Based on the results from tests and the analysis through whole process, the main factors influencing the short-term stiffness and crack width of the flexuralmember are studied. The simulate calcultion for more than 100 beamsare implemented by the computer. Based on the statistical analysis, referring to the New Code (GBJ10-89), the calculation formulas of the short-term stiffness and the crack width of SRC beams are proposed. The results calculated following these formulas are in better accordance with those measured results from the tests.
