A SINGLE-STEP TIME ELEMENT METHOD FOR DYNAMIC RESPONSE BY GURTIN VARIATIONAL PRINCIPLE

  • A single-step time element method for analysis of structural dynamic response is presented by using Gurtin variational pinciple. The cubic Hermitian interpolations are introduced to approximate the nodal displacements in time domain. An unconditional stable formula is also suggested. It is shown that the method proposed is very simple and highly accurate.
