  • The results of structural reliability research are helpful to the reliability stochastic finite element. The S.F.E.M. based on FORM or SORM are able to solve problems of linear structures, and have been applied on a variety of structures. The applications show their powerful capacity to improve design codes, and to design more economic and safer structures. A number of S.F.E.M. codes have been developed. Research in the future is concentrated on the problems such as multiple design points, inelastic structures, system reliability, and improvement of computation of response gradients. Results of these researches will make S. F. E. M. more powerful.
