THE VIBRATION CHARACTERISTICS AND ASEISMIC DESIGN OF MULTI-TOWER-BUILDING STRUCTURES

  • This paper is concerned with the vibration characteristics of multi-tower-building structures with an enlarged base at the bottom. The commonly seen two-tower structures are studied. It is shown that no difference is made in the earthquake response analysis of a complete two-tower structure as compared to the analysis of one symmetric half of the structure. The method for determination of number of vibration modes in earthquake response analysis of multi-tower structures is also discussed.
