THE ELLIPSOIDAL MODEL OF GENERALIZED RESULTANT DEVIATORIC STRESS

  • In this paper based on the idea of stress ellipsoid, the author proposes an elliptical globe yielding criterions which describes the yielding of rock and soil. The yielding criterion not only accounts for the deviatoric stress state and the static hydraulic stress state contributing to yielding of material, but also demonstrates the nonlinear relation of the yielding and the static hydraulic stress. In addition, it shows the behavior of yielding of rock and soil under the static hydraulic pressure. The yielding criterion is used to describe destruction of rock and soil.The results are shown to agree well with test dates.
