FLOW-INDUCED VIBRATION IN NUCLEAR REACTORS

  • Flow-induced vibration (FIV) is an important problem for the safety and reliability of structures in nuclear reactors. In this paper, the state of the art of flow-induced vibration at home and abroad is described. Some FIV analysis methods, empirical formulae and future work are discussed. This review covers the general flow-excitation mechanisms, turbulence, fluidelastic instability, vorticity shedding and acoustic resonance, and the special case of axial flow.
