NON-STATIONARY RANDOM VIBRATIONS OF BURIED PIPELINES

  • The actual motion of ground during earthquakes is considered as a non-stationary random process and non-stationary random responses of buried pipelines are studied. Correlation functions of the responses (stresses and displacements) for both axial and lateral vibration are derived in closed form, taking into consideration of the correlation of ground motion. An illustrative example is presented to show the history of stresses and displacements of buried pipelines under earthquake excitation.
