ANALYSIS OF STABILITY FOR COHESIVE SOIL SLOPES

  • A formula to determine the safety factor when the circular failure surfaces appear in undrained cohesive soil (φ=0) is presented in this paper. With minimization criteria of functions, a set of algebraic equations involving three variables are obtained. As a result, the critical slip surface and the minimum safety factor for a given slope are determined. As examples, several slopes are studied and the critical slip surfaces and the minimum safety factors of the slopes are computed.
