A BASIC WAY TO DETERMINE THE STABLE SLOPE ANGLE FOR FURROW PITS

  • This paper is concerned with the stress state of the trumpet slope of furrow pits during excavation. The rock mass is assumed to be homogeneous and elastic, and loaded only by its dead weight. With the coulomb's criterion, the relationship of the stable slope angle, the angle of internal friction, the cohesion, the specific weight and the horizontal radius of furrow pit is derived in the paper. It is shown that the more deeply the furrow pit is excavated, the greater the stable slope angle is. The present work provides the theoretical basis of reducing stripping in furrow pits and the determination of the configuration of stable slope.
