ANALYSIS OF BEARING CAPACITY AND STRENGTHENING OF DAMAGED MEMBERS FOR OFFSHORE PLATFORM

  • Finite element method and elastic-plastic theory are applied to the bearing capacity analysis of the damaged members of an offshore platform collided by the large tonnage Derrick & Lay Barge, the local dent shape of Soreide is adopted to solve the terminal bend moment. On the base of theory analysis and the practical experience, the grouted clamp repairing and strengthening scheme is evaluated. In the repair plan, the brace is grouted and high strength bolt is used to connect the grout and the exterior pipe. The von Mises criterion of concrete strength is introduced into finite element model under loads of axial pulling, axial pressing and planar bending moment. Compared with the theoretical stress states of the member, the bearing capacities of grouted clamp under loads of axial pulling and compressing are better than that of the original steel tube, but the bearing capacity of grouted clamp under planar bending is less than that of the original steel tube. With reference to APIRP2A, the present method is feasible to design and analysis of bearing capacity and strengthening of damaged members of offshore platform structures.
