IMPROVED EAS ELEMENTS

Based on the EAS elements¹², the principle used to improve the EAS elements has been discussed and strategies to modify the strain field are introduced. Two new EAS elements are constructed. Compared with the original elements, the new elements are less sensitive to mesh distortion. Because the proposed elements are based on the Hu-Washizu variational principle, they are more suitable for nonlinear analysis. Numerical results demonstrate the good performance of the proposed elements.
