SEISMIC ANALYSIS OF GRAND NATIONAL THEATRE OF CHINA

  • Grand National Theater of China is the highest grade of artistic center in China. In the whole structural system, many structure types and some new techniques are used synthetically, including prestressed concrete, concrete filled tubular columns, space net shell, conversion floors and so on. To investigate the seismic response and rectify the structural design of Grand National Theater, two types of seismic calculation methods, that is, response spectrum analysis and time-history analysis are used to analyze its dynamic characteristics and seismic action using the computer code ANSYS 5.7.1 in this paper. Some results such as natural frequencies of vibration, modes of vibration, and the distribution of story抯 shear and displacement are obtained, which will provide important parameters for structural design. Also, on the basis of the detailed structure analysis, some advices to verify the structural layout are put forward.
