ELASTIC-PLASTIC ANALYSIS OF FINITE CRACKED PLATE WITH STIFFENED EDGES

  • Solutions to the elastic-plastic problem of finite cracked plate with stiffened edges under tension are presented in this paper based on the Dugdale model. It is assumed that the tangential traction along two sides of the cracked plate is converted into the tension body force of the strip stiffener. After considering the compatibility condition between the edge of the cracked plate and the strip, the solution is obtainable. The length of plastic zone on the crack tip and the CTOD(Crack Tip Opening Displacement) value on the crack border are approximately evaluated. A computer program is developed, the load-carrying capacity and the CTOD values of finite internally cracked stiffened plate with different relative rigidity between plate and stiffener are calculated. The effect of the stiffened edge is discussed.
