DYNAMIC RESPONSE COUPLED BY RUBBER BEARING SLIDING IN INTERCHANGE BRIDGE UNDER EARTHQUAKE

  • Significant interactions exist among components in interchange bridge with different dynamic characteristics under earthquake. In design and construction of urban interchange bridges, the rubber bearings are usually placed on the top of a pier directly and the shear force transmitted from the superstructure depends on the friction between the interfaces. The sliding might occur on the interfaces between rubber bearings and girder bottoms or pier tops under an earthquake. For multi-simply-supported beam bridge, considering material and contact nonlinear properties in practice in detail such as pier, bearing and pounding simulated by elasto-plastic fiber beam-column element, sliding bearing element and contact element respectively, the dynamic coupled responses of the yield of columns caused by pounding due to excessive bearing sliding is investigated carefully through nonlinear time history analysis.
