OPTIMIZATION OF SHEAR WALL STRUCTURE WITH ENERGY DISSIPATION DEVICES

  • An optimization design method for shear wall structure with energy dissipation devices is put forward. By using continuum method, energy dissipation devices in shear wall structure are considered as continuous parameters in the vertical direction. According to the equilibrium equations of an infinitesimal element of shear wall, partial differential equations are derived and mapped into ordinary differential equations of two parameters. The optimal function equation is established. The parameters of two limit states are substituted into optimal function equation and a transcendental equation is obtained and the optimal damper ratio is determined by numerical method. Numerical results show effectiveness of the solution method. The method is characterized by clear physical concept and high calculation efficiency. It can be applied to the design of high-rise buildings with energy dissipation devices.
