ANALYTIC SOLUTION FOR STRESS IN WEDGED-RING CONNECTED SHELL UNDER TENSILE LOADING

  • A wedged-ring connection structure belongs to the multi-body combined structure with components contacting and frictionating each other, which is mainly composed of two connected shells and a pair of wedged rings. The analytic model of the wedged-ring connection structure under tensile loading is established in the paper. It is considered that the connected shells are composed of elastic ring, short and long cylindrical shells. Based on theory of plates and shells, the equations of solving precise inner force of their cross sections are deduced by force method. When the wedged-ring slot is enough long, the simplified analytic solution of inner force is presented. Through the exact analytic solution, the application condition of simplified analytic solution is discussed.
