AMELIORATION OF GUDEHUS-BAUER HYPOPLASTIC MODEL CONSIDERING PRINCIPAL-STRESS-AXE ROTATIONS

  • Based on basic principle of nonlinear continuum mechanics, the ameliorated Gudehus-Bauer hypoplastic model considering the rotation of principal stress axes is presented. The ameliorated model insists that the magnitude and direction of stress increment depend on the current stress state and the bulk and direction of current strain increment. The four parameters of the model are estimated by the angle of repose, minimal void ratio, maximal void ratio, and the other four parameters are determined by equivalent compression test, triaxial compression test and oedometric test of dense sand. Finally, the computing results of the ameliorated model are compared with the relevant experimental data by the cases. The results show that the revised Gudehus-Bauer hypoplastic model can take strength and deformation of sand under principal stress axes rotation into consideration.
