EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON ELASTIC MATERIALS IMPACTED BY LONG BAR PROJECTILE

Stress waves tested on a bar are analyzed when it impacts elastic material like steel, aluminum or nylon 6. The influences of impact velocities and properties of materials to the stress are determined. Experimental results show that the impact velocities do not change the shapes of stress waves except their amplitudes, and the shape of stress wave is concerned with the thickness and the mechanical behavior of the impacted materials.
