ASEISMIC RESEARCH OF COMPOSITE SHEAR WALL AND CORE WALLS WITH RECTANGULAR CONCRETE FILLED STEEL TUBE COLUMNS

  • Composite shear walls and core walls with concrete filled steeltube columns are new types of members of structures to resist horizontal loads. Aseismic behaviors of composite shear walls with rectangular concrete filled steeltube columns are investigated, considering different design parameters including various concrete strength, axial-load ratio, shear-span ratio and strong or weak shear constructional measures. The experiment of 2 traditional reinforced concrete shear walls, 7 composite shear walls with rectangular concrete filled steeltube columns and 2 joint models with different shear constructional measures have been accomplished by applying low cyclic loads. Based on the experiment, the load-carrying capacity, ductility, stiffness and degradation, hysteretic property, energy dissipation and failure phenomena of each shear wall are contrastively analyzed. The formulas of load-carrying capacity are established. The results obtained from the formulas are in good agreement with those from the experiment. The results show that this kind of shear walls and core walls can fully play advantages of strong lateral stiffness of concrete shear walls and good aseismic behavior of concrete filled steeltube columns. Shear constructional measures combining concrete filled steeltube columns and concrete shear wall work well. This kind of shear wall and core walls are well applied in engineering.
