STUDY ON THERMAL DEFORMATION-COMPENSATION FOR COMPOSITE LAMINATED PLATES USING PIEZOELECTRIC ACTUATORS

  • Based on the first order shear-deformation-plate theory, a finite element analytical model of composite laminated plates with distributed PZT actuators under a thermal load is established and a corresponding governing equation is deduced. The thermal deformation of the plates induced by different temperatures on the upper and lower surfaces and the thermal deformation-compensation for the plates using PZT actuators are studied respectively. The effect of the adhesive layer between PZT actuator and plate is considered. Some typical examples are given for illustration and conclusions can be drawn: 1) the thermal deformation of composite laminated plates can be repaired by PZT actuators effectively; 2) the distribution of PZT actuators has a great influence on repairing effect of the plates; 3) the contribution of increasing voltage to the repair of thermal deformation of the plates is very limited when the voltage reached a certain level.
