CALCULATION OF COMPRESSION STRENGTH OF ELBOW-RUBBER HOSE REINFORCED BY SPIRALED CORDS THREADS

  • According to the geometrical structure of the elbow-rubber hose reinforced by spiraled cords threads, its calculation formulation of compression strength is derived on the base of the stress analysis with the inner-pressure. The analytical results indicate that the bursting pressure of the curved part of the elbow-rubber hose is lower than that of its straight part. Therefore, the compression strength of the elbow-rubber hose is determined by the bursting pressure of its curved part, which is not only dependent on the strength, layers, spiraled density and winding angle of cords threads, but also on its geometrical structure. The camber outside of the curved part is the weakest and breaks off at first as the inner pressure increases. The experimental results indicate that the calculated compression strength is close to experimental value, and the breakage place is consistent with its experimental results, which proves the theoretical formulation of its compression strength valid.
