EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL BASE ISOLATION AND OVERTURN RESISTANCE DEVICE

  • Three kinds of three-dimensional base isolation and overturn resistance devices (3D-BIORD) were developed, in view of the limitation that there are a few kind of structural three-dimensional base isolators and existent bearings do not have the ability of overturn resistance. The structure and constructing technology of each type of bearings are introduced in detail. Horizontal and vertical mechanical property tests of the disk spring three- dimensional base isolation and overturn resistance device (DS-3D-BIORD) are carried out according to the function of bearings using a press-shear machine and an electronic universal test machine. Results of tests show that the adding in wire rope really improves the pull resistance ability of the rubber bearing, that the device has a full horizontal hysteresis loop and horizontal part tests and whole tests consist with each other, that all the three kinds of combination mode of the disk spring bearing have proper stiffness, that unlike the vertical part tests, the device has a fuller hysteresis loop when carry out vertical whole tests, that by considering the couple of the horizontal and the vertical, the hysteresis loop can simplify as a bilinear form, and that the loading frequency has little influence on the properties of the device.
