A SIMPLIFIED MODEL FOR LONG TUBULAR OBLIQUE PENETRATION INTO SEMI-INFINITE HOMOGENEOUS TARGET

  • The observations for long tubular oblique penetration into semi-infinite homogeneous target are interesting.The oblique penetration patterns of the long tube against homogeneous target at 1000m/s to 1500m/s are described.The effects of the “residual core” in target on long tubular penetration are important.Motions of long tube and external forces on it in every penetration stage are analyzed.Under some assumptions,the equations of centroidal motions of long tube and the equations of long tubular rotation about centroid in different penetration stages are established with conservation of momentum for system of variable mass and moment of momentum principle respectively.The model is simulated numerally.The experiments of long tubular oblique penetration into homogeneous target are carried out.The theoretical result of penetration courses agrees with the experimental data very well,which validates the model.The model is expected to helpful to the research of hollow and telescopic projectile.
