EXPERIMENTAL AND THEORETICAL INVESTIGATION ON THE FLEXURAL BEHAVIOR OF FINE GRAINED CONCRETE BEAM REINFORCED WITH TEXTILE-COMBINED STEEL

  • Textile-reinforced concrete (TRC) is prone to brittle failure under ultimate stress, which limits its application to bearing load. In this study, some thin steel bars were added into TRC to prevent the brittle fracture of TRC, which was verified experimentally. Additionally, sticking sand on the epoxy resin-impregnated textile can improve the cooperating of the textile and the steel bars in bearing the load; mixing polypropylene fiber into fine grained concrete is helpful to enhance the initial cracking load of the component; embedding U-shaped hook at the interface between the textile and the fine grained concrete benefits the member to increase its bearing capacity. Finally, based on the bending design theory of RC elements, the analytic calculation formulae for the TRC are presented. Comparison between the calculated and the experimental results shows satisfactory agreement and thus verifies that the calculation method is practicable.
