POST-BUCKLING BEHAVIORS OF MULTI-SUPPORTED FGM ROD SUBJECTED TO NON-CONSERVATIVE FORCES

  • Based on the large deformation theory of an axial extensible elastic rod, the piecewise nonlinear governed differential equations for a multi-supported FGM rod subjected to a uniformly distributed tangential load are established. Combining with the continuous condition and the boundary condition, the post-buckling behaviors of a FGM rod made of metal and ceramic materials are analyzed by using shooting method. The relationships between the follower force, end rotation angle and end internal force of the FGM rod under the different gradient index are discussed. The post-buckling characteristic curves and the equilibrium configurations of the FGM rod are plotted. The influence of the supporting position on the post-buckling characteristics and the equilibrium configurations of the FGM rod are analyzed.
