SHEAR CAPACITY CALCULAITON OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BEAM-STEEL REINFORCED CONCRETE COLUMN FRAME JOINTS

  • Shear capacity calculation of beam-column joint is one of the keys in seismic design of reinforced concrete frame structures. At present, the theory for calculation of shear capacity of beam-column joints needs to be improved due to the complexity of shear transfer mechanism and joint construction requirements. According to the analysis and comparison of existing theories for shear strength of joints, the shear mechanism of prestressed concrete beam-steel reinforced concrete column frame joints is elaborated. Based on truss model and diagonal compression strut model, a new calculation method for shear capacity of beam-column joints is proposed, with consideration of both effects of prestressing tendons and structural steel. Experimental data of beam-column joint specimens with two different failure modes, namely bending failure at the beam ends and shear failure of joints, are used to verify the proposed calculation method. The theoretical results are shown to be consistent with the experimentally observed values of beam-column joints.
