EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON ASEISMIC PERFORMANCE AND RESILIENCE OF A SELF-CENTERING SHEAR WALL WITH BRBS AT BASE

  • A self-centering concrete shear wall with buckling-restrained braces (BRBs) at its base is proposed to improve the self-centering and energy dissipation capacity of the shear wall and consider the replaceability of the energy-dissipating members. In order to study the aseismic performance and resilience of the shear wall, one shear wall and two groups of BRBs were designed and manufactured. The pseudo-static and replacement tests were conducted, and the failure modes, hysteresis, self-centering and earthquake-resilient performance of the specimens were studied. The results indicate that: the damage of self-centering shear wall is mainly concentrated on the BRBs, and the proposed wall has a good energy dissipation capacity and certain self-centering capability. The hysteretic performance of the self-centering shear wall before and after replacing BRBs remains basically unchanged, which indicates that it behaves a good earthquake-resilience.
