THE RESEARCH OF AERODYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF TILT ROTOR USING WIND TUNNEL TEST AND NUMERICAL SIMULATION METHODS

  • The wind tunnel test and numerical simulation of the aerodynamic characteristics of the hover and cruising state are carried out for tilting rotors. In the experiment, six-component balance and torque balance were used to measure the rotor thrust and torques in hovering and cruising conditions. Experimental data of some hovering efficiency and cruise efficiency of tilting rotors were obtained, and the aerodynamic performance of the designed rotor was verified. To analyze the characteristics of the flow field, the moving overset grid method is adopted to simulate the flow field of the tilting rotor by solving the NS equation. The correlation analysis between numerical simulation and wind tunnel test is carried out to verify the effectiveness of the numerical simulation method. At the same time, the distribution characteristics of the blade surface pressure, the tip vortex and the induction velocity are obtained.
