Hysteretic behavior of low yield point steel LYP100 under large inelastic strain

  • Monotonic tension tests and cyclic tests were conducted to investigate mechanical properties of low yield point steel LYP100 in this study. A small gage coupon specimen with a length-to-diameter ratio of 1.25 was adopted in cyclic tests to avoid buckling of the specimen under compression. Seven loading schemes were adopted in the cyclic tests. Remarkable work-hardening was observed in the cyclic tests which was a combination of kinematic hardening and isotropic hardening. Work-hardening of LYP100 was related to the strain range by comparison while the Chaboche model did not express this feature. The parameter identification based on the Chaboche model, which performed well with the fix strain range cyclic tests, could not provide a good prediction when simulating other loading schema due to the inherent shortcomings of the Chaboche model.
