EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE INTERFACE BEHAVIOR OF GFRP-CONCRETE COMPOSITE DECK

  • The reliable interface connection is important to secure the composite action of the FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymer)-concrete composite deck in normal operation. In order to investigate the bonding behavior of the interface of the glass FRP (GFRP)-concrete composite deck, 27 GFRP-concrete composite desk connection specimens with four different kinds of bonding patterns were tested by using the double shear experiments in this paper. The failure mode, bearing capacity, and interface slip were analyzed based on the experimental results. The experimental results show that these four kinds of bonding patterns have improved the bonding behavior and can be potentially used as the shear resistance countermeasures. The bonding strength of the interface of the GFRP-concrete composite deck is related to the surface roughness condition, bonding behavior of cohesive, arrangement pattern of the shear connectors, and concrete strength. Finite element analysis has been conducted on three specimens and compared with experimental results.
