EQUIVALENT STATIC WIND LOAD OF TRANSMISSION TOWER BASED ON DISPLACEMENT MEASUREMENT

  • Based on a non-contact precision displacement measurement system, the displacement response of a transmission tower under different wind directions and wind speed are measured with an aeroelastic model by wind tunnel experiments. And the experiment analysis method for estimating an equivalent static wind load (ESWL) are further deduced based on the displacement response of a transmission tower with the load-response-correlation method. The results show that the wind-induced respond of a transmission tower in both two axes is dominated by the first-order modal, and that the along-fluctuating response is more prominent than the across-wind response. The ESWL for a transmission tower in the along-wind direction, calculating by the proposed method, is considerably larger than that in the across-wind direction; the average amount of ESWL in the along-wind direction is dominant, the second in the background, and there is no significant contribution to ESWLs for a resonant response. The comparative result indicates that the proposed method for estimating ESWL of a transmission tower is reasonable and feasible.
