EXPERIMENT AND ANALYSIS ON WIND-RESISTANT PERFORMANCE OF ALUMINUM ALLOY COLUMNS IN CURTAIN WALL

  • To study the wind-resistant performance of the aluminum alloy columns with open section in curtain wall structures, the experiments of a unit curtain wall with a pair of hooks and without hooks were carried out under positive and negative pressure, respectively. The experimental results of displacement and strain under different wind pressure were analysed and the finite element analysis of them were also conducted. The test results show that: the transoms play a limited role when the quantities and displacement of the hooks are rational; when the negative pressure increases, the opening between male and female columns reduce gradually and close together at last, meanwhile the male and female columns have common stress and collaborative deformation and the hooks have no effect on the out-of-plane stability of the columns. The in-plane deformation of the columns without hooks is much greater than that of the columns with one pair of hooks with positive pressure of wind, meanwhile the hooks have a great effect on the lateral torsion of the columns. By comparing the results of experiments and FEA,it is shown that FEA results agree well with the experimental results.
