A HYBRID BOUNDARY NODE METHOD FOR THE BENDING OF PLATES ON ELASTIC FOUNDATION

  • Based on two-parameter elastic foundation model, the dual reciprocity method (DRM) and the hybrid boundary node method (HBNM) are combined for solving bending problems of a thin plate on elastic foundation. The subgrade reaction, as well as the transverse load, is treated as the non-homogeneous term, and the particular solution is approximated by using radial basis function (RBF), while the complementary one is obtained by means of HBNM. No meshes are needed either for variables interpolation or for energy integration. Several nodes in the domain are needed just for RBF interpolation. Therefore, the present method is still a boundary type meshless method. Several examples given in this paper have shown that, in solving the bending problems of thin plates resting on elastic foundation, the present method has high accuracy and convergence.
