Abstract:
A simplified analysis model, namely the rigid body-MDOF system model, for framed self-centering wall (FSCW) structures is proposed in this paper. It treats the self-centering wall as a rigid body and the frame as a multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) system. Adopting this model, the governing equations of motion of FSCW structures under seismic excitation were established. The corresponding dynamic simulation model was developed on the Simulink platform. For a typical FSCW structure subjected to several ground motions, elastic seismic response analyses were conducted by both the proposed method and the finite element software ABAQUS. The results obtained from the two methods were generally close to each other. Therefore, the proposed simplified analysis model has a relatively good accuracy and a rather high computational efficiency. It can be further applied in the seismic design of FSCW structures.
