Abstract:
Some pipe ocean structures, such as piles, pipelines, have to be manufactured on land and transported to the installation sites by boat. Because the dimension and weight of the pipe structures are usually large, the pipe structures will induce considerable additional dynamic loads to the retainer because of the movement, such as rolling, pitching heaving, of the boat during transportation. The movement characteristics of the pipe structures are analyzed and formulas for calculating the dynamic load of the pipe structure on the retainer are also deduced. A model test device is designed and the test results agree well with the theoretical formulas. This approach can be used to help the designers to load pipe structures on a transport boat.
