Abstract:
The geocell reinforcement was treated as a beam on Winkler elastic foundation in connection with its stress-deformation characteristics under loads. On the base of the Winkler model, a deformation governing differential equation for the geocell reinforcement was established in which the interface resistances among the reinforcement and the upper and lower soils were taken into account. Using Galerkin method, corresponding nonlinear analytical solutions for the deformation, axial force, shear force and bending moment of the geocell reinforcement under the symmetric loads were presented. The influence of interface resistance on the behavior of geocell reinforcement was investigated. The results show that the horizontal resistance has a weaken effect on the bending deflection and bending moment of geocell reinforcements.
