Abstract:
A finite difference model for predicting temperature fields in early age concrete is presented based on adiabatic test on concrete. In this model, the effect of temperature on cement hydration and heat generation are considered by using the concept of equivalent age. To verify the model, the temperature within three typical locations in two types of concrete, C40 and C80,were measured experimentally. The model predictions are found to be in good consistence with the test results on the development of temperature with concrete age at different locations in concrete. The developed model could be used in temperature field calculations of early age concrete structures.
