Abstract: In this paper, a general analytical solution for the axisymmetric bending of a semispherical shell with simple support is presented based on the three-dimensional elasticity. The solution formed with separated variables is expressed in terms of an orthogonal. complete series of Jacobi polynomials in the coordinate φ. Numerical results are presented and the precision of the moderately thick shell theory is examined.
