Abstract:
Seven RC columns strengthened with the combination of angle steel and carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) under cyclic loads have been conducted to investigate the sheer behaviors, and the influence factors of the sheer capacity of the combination strengthened columns have been analyzed. The results demonstrate that CFRP and angle steel can confine the cross-direction deformation of the concrete. There is a remarkable improvement in ductility and the shear capacity of the columns strengthened with combination of angle steel and CFRP. Furthermore, the jointly strengthened columns excel the separately strengthened columns in the shear capacity and the ductility. Base on the experiment, theoretical analysis is made on the shear mechanics and the calculate method of the shear capacity of the combination strengthened columns is provided. Comparing with experimental results, the calculated results show a good agreement with them and the method can be referenced in engineering application.
