Abstract:
A finite element (FE) model for the analysis of reinforced concrete plane frames under local fire is presented in this paper. Deformation and failure mechanism, distribution of plastic hinges, development of the internal forces and stresses of the frame under local fire exposure are analyzed by using the FE model. The influences of axial load level in the frame columns, as well as the fire location on the fire resistance of the frame is analyzed. Finally, the overall fire resistance of the frame and that of the isolated members in the RC frame are compared tentatively.
