Abstract:
A Shaking table test was carried on a long-span connected structure under multi-dimensional and multi-supported excitations. To investigate the influence of multi-dimensional earthquake components and wave passage effect on the structure, both uni-dimensional and multi-dimensional, uniform and multi-supported earthquake inputs were used to excite the structure. The experimental results show that: the structural responses will be increased when multi-dimensional earthquake components are considered simultaneously; wave passage effect may increase the strain of some key elements around connections significantly; under multi-dimensional and multi-supported earthquake excitations, the acceleration responses along the long-axis of the structure are decreased to some extent, while there is a huge increment in the acceleration responses along the short-axis; the vertical seismic responses of the corridor will be increased significantly when multi-dimensional and multi-supported earthquake excitations are taken into account. Therefore, it is suggested that multi-dimensional and multi-supported earthquake excitations should be considered during the aseismic design of this kind of structure.
