Abstract:
A 4-span simply-supported beam bridge in New Jersey is selected as a benchmark model, as a new platform for international old bridge performance evaluation and study. More than ten well-known universities and counsulting firms took part in this project and conducted the static test, dynamic test and non-destructive test on this bridge. This paper simply introduces the bridge selection process and the general situation of the project. The static and dynamic test results of the southbound second span of the bridge are presented. Multiple reference impact test is performed to capture dynamic modal flexibility, and the static test is conducted with the dump trucks. The comparison of the deflection using modal flexibility and which from the static load shows this method can provide effective decision support for structural damage identification.
