Abstract: The actuality of reservoir buildings in China is recounted. It is analyzed that the reservoir affects on natural and social environment basing on its functions, influence on climate, water quality and species as well as migration. The geologic hazards induced due to reservoir impoundment including aggradation, eboulement, leakage and reservoir-induced seismicity are discussed in detail. Some measures are proposed to deal with those geologic hazards.
