Abstract: Simplifying the computational process of wind induced responses of tall buildings is very important for practical purpose and code applications.This paper thus focuses on the simplified method for wind induced responses of tall buildings.A background response modification factor is defined and the values of typical tall buildings are derived based on the previous wind tunnel experimental results obtained by the authors and detailed analyses of wind induced responses of typical tall buildings.For the simplification of resonant responses,the equivalent wind spectrum technique is adopted and a new formula of equivalent coherence coefficient is proposed.Numerical simulations of typical tall buildings indicate that the simplified method proposed in the present paper can be conveniently used for estimation of wind induced responses of tall buildings with high accuracy.
