STUDY ON THE TENSION TEST OF MEMBRANE MATERIALS USING DIGITAL IMAGE CORRELATION METHOD

  • Digital image correlation method (DICM) is employed to measure the mechanical behavior of Précontraint 1202 Fluotop T2 membrane materials under biaxial tension. Moreover, the creep tests are also carried out and the corresponding creep properties are analyzed. In this method, images of the membrane surface are captured in real-time by CCD and corresponding computer system. And DICM is subsequently used to obtain large strain by correlating the images captured before and after deformation. Based on the strain obtained by DICM, modulus of elasticity, Poisson’s ratio and relation of the strain-time in the state of creep are measured respectively. Test and analytic results show clear evidence of the feasibility and advantages of DICM in measuring the tension behavior of membrane materials, which indicates that DICM is a new approach to test and investigate the mechanical behavior of membrane materials.
