STUDY ON DISTRIBUTING RULES OF WIND PRESSURE COEFFICIENTS ON SPHERICAL SHELL SURFACE UNDER EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT PARAMETERS

  • The wind engineering analysis of a large span spherical shell involves most complicated problems such as separation, reattachment. These problems make the shell surface wind coefficient distribution be complicated. Aiming at the wind coefficient distribution, based on the SST k-w turbulence model, FLUENT and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) are employed to compute and analyze the evolution of wind pressure coefficients on spherical shell surface when different parameters such as rise span ratio, spherical shell height, wind speed, wind direction, and spherical radius change. To obtain wind coefficients on shell surface fast and accurately, two dimensional geometrical plane fitting methods are proposed and the fitting formulation is obtained. Finally the formulation is applied to existing wind tunnel experiment results. It is found that wind coefficient distribution tendency agrees well with the experimental results.
