ANALYSIS OF PROGRESSIVE COLLAPSE RESISTANCE OF SPACE FRAMES

  • The spacial analysis of structures has great significance in the research on progressive collapse because the load transfers along different directions and results in the redistribution of internal force after local failures in structures. To investigate the characteristics of progressive collapse resistance of frames, the paper analyzed the mechanical behaviors of space steel frames with specific removed columns and compared the spacial analysis with the analysis of a single frame with removed columns. The influence of different plane layout forms on the maximum demand for the capacity ratio was also studied. It was shown that the maximum demand for the capacity ratio appeared in the spacial analysis comparing the analysis of the single frame with the spacial analysis, and that the location of the maximum demand for the capacity ratio was jointly affected by layout forms of the structure and the span in the results.
